The Answer to the Issue of Digital Contraband

The main issue with supporting incarcerated individuals with communications technology is the fact that many of them can use it to continue to break the law. Evidence of this can be found throughout the prison system, with inmates smuggling in cell phones in order for them to continue their illegal business outside of jailhouse walls. Securus Technologies is an information technology company that mainly supports inmates as their primary customer base. Business has been good since they opened their doors, but therein lies the problem; how do you adequately monitor prisoners to make sure that the technology you allow them to have is being used in a safe and secure manner? In order to maintain control over use, Securus Technologies has been working hard to develop what they call a wireless containment system. While the system has not been utilized as of yet, it is still an impressive feat, assuming that Securus Technologies can pull it off.

The wireless containment system is a network that acts in a similar fashion to a virtual spiderweb or a blanket. It is being created to cover a specific range, identifying and monitoring every mobile device that accesses a network of WiFi connection in order to communicate with the outside world. Every signal that the containment system pinpoints is identified using the unique IP address issued to all mobile devices. The operator of the system then has the ability to disable the signal, making it impossible for the caller to connect to their target. If successful, this system will be instrumental in diminishing and hopefully eliminating the problem with crime and contraband in the prison system, at least through phone and internet-based communication.

The wireless containment system is still in the testing phase. Securus needs additional time to train operators, work out kinks in the software the system will follow, and install the necessary hardware components to make it function properly. Trial runs of the system will be performed shortly after these initial tests are complete. If this program is able to do what Securus Technologies has created it for then there is no reason why it should not be an effective and reliable method for preventing the rise of digital contraband. If there is one information technology company that is up to the challenge of producing something so advanced then it is definitely Securus; a company that was created for the people in order to provide a safe and secure means for communication, regardless of personal background or past choices in life.

Securus Technologies Acquires GovPayNet for Expansion of Payment Service Enterprise

Technology giant Securus Technologies obtained GovPayNet, one of the leaders in processing credit/debit card settlements in the government sector in its bid to expand the entity’s payment service business. Securus provides the so-called technology-driven solutions in government payment transactions specifically the fields of law-enforcement as well as investigation, corrections, and public safety.

Addition of another Portfolio

Securus Technologies President and CEO Robert Pickens emphasized this venture of acquiring GovPayNet means the adding of another service that enhances its business and provides more benefits for the target consumers. He gave credit to Mark MacKenzie, GovPayNet chief executive officer along with his management team and employees for their experience of more than two decades building a business with premium quality service and ability to fulfill their customers’ needs. It also strives to upgrade services for the welfare of consumers.

Securus Technologies looks at building on its expertise in introducing convenient and seamless payment solutions to people who make use of and benefit from public services. According to CEO Pickens, Securus Technologies now can process more than 40 million payments every year. The technology company plans to branch out to other segments shortly. How Vital is Securus Technologies to Prison Safety?

In order to understand how important Securus Technologies is to prison safety, it is important to look at the conditions today compared to only a few years ago. As a prison guard, I have see the incidents of violence in our prison escalate at an alarming rate in the last few years. I can remember a time not too long ago where we could walk among the inmate population and actually converse like respectful adults. Today, these new generation gangsters will cut your throat if given the chance.

Part of the reason the inmates are so violent these days has to be attributed to a number of factors. Perhaps the biggest factor has to be overcrowding. These inmates have zero privacy anymore, packed in their cells form hours a day with six to a small space, and then stuck in the mess hall or the yard with thousands of men who are itching to just have some normalcy. If these men are able to get access to drugs, they can go from a controlled individual to one that will snap in the blink of an eye.

How does Securus Technologies come into the mix?

Securus Technologies developed a telephone monitoring system that is able to scan dozens of calls without a live officer needed. This not only frees up my staff, the LBS software can be more accurate and alert officers if there are incidents that need to be addressed. Here are some of the things that we were able to take care of this week:

The system gave my team an alert when one inmate was bragging to his sister how he was getting high in his cell each night. We got another alert when an inmate told his sister to hide her Xanax pills in her bra and pass to him at the visitor center.

Securus Technologies – Highly Efficient and Affordable Range of Products and Services

The correctional sphere is highly saturated, and many companies are operating in the industry. However, one of the businesses that have been making a significant and consistent contribution to the correctional space over the years is Securus Technologies. The company has not only helped the inmates get access to affordable and efficient communication products and services but also ensured that the law enforcement agencies are able to get access to high-end technology oriented products and services.

The crime prevention and investigative products and services offered by Securus Technologies helps the law enforcement officers to stop the crime before it takes place on many occasions, and in most cases ensures that the culprit is not able to hide from law for long. The evidence provided by the products and services offered by Securus Technologies makes it easier to convict the offender before the court of justice. Such services have put the criminals in check and have considerably helped in reducing the crime rate in the industry.

Securus Technologies is one of the leading names in the industry and is known for its customer service and innovation it brings to the correctional space. The company recently launched a brand new service called video visitation that would help the prisoners talk and see their friends and families over a smart device. It is a highly useful service as it would ensure that the inmate can communicate with their loved ones more often, and is more cost-efficient as well.

The company’s services in the law enforcement sphere are also recognized by the law enforcement agencies and its officers. Securus Technologies receives many letters from the officers, which it recently showcased in a press release online. In the media release, the company’s CEO, Rick Smith also extended an open invitation to the existing and potential customers and investors to visit the advanced technology center of the enterprise based in Dallas, Texas.

An Open Invitation by Securus Technologies to an Open Presentation Event about the Deployment of Technological Tools in Crime Prevention

The open invitation to the exhibition event on the implementation of technological tools to solve a crime that Securus Technologies extended to all customers, prospective and existing, is an opportunity I cannot miss. Let me start by praising the efforts your company is making to improve the situations in the incarceration facilities by building and providing innovative state-of-the-art devices that can detect crimes before they take place. The move is quite commendable! The broad range of capabilities in these advanced devices is a proactive step by your company towards enhancing safety for the general public as a whole.

I am now persuaded beyond any doubt that America will be the safest place on the planet to live in because Securus is providing a futuristic lead into technological ways of eliminating crimes. That security and safety guarantees to both the public and inmates in prisons will be possible through the application of the tools is something I never dreamt would happen soon. But thanks to the consistent innovation and research your company is undertaking to evolve better facilities to help in solving crimes.

May I hasten to say that as a law enforcement agent, the risks I face daily in the course of my duties have been significantly lessened! My work is also made efficient because I can now drop an ear anytime into what criminals are cooking up behind the scene. Being able to intercept information about illegal activities as they are being relayed is a big plus for us because of the work of monitoring, intervening, and investigating crimes is presently relaxed and comfortable. We can now circumvent several risky situations by relying on the devices you provide instead of exposing ourselves to open confrontation with crime syndicates. At one time I was able to intercept information about plans by a major crime ring to traffic large amounts of contraband like drugs and weapons in many jails. Thumps up for your company!
